Surah Al Lail (1-21)

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

وَ الَّیْلِ اِذَا یَغْشٰى(1) وَ النَّهَارِ اِذَا تَجَلّٰى(2) وَ مَا خَلَقَ الذَّكَرَ وَ الْاُنْثٰۤى(3) اِنَّ سَعْیَكُمْ لَشَتّٰى(4) فَاَمَّا مَنْ اَعْطٰى وَ اتَّقٰى(5) وَ صَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنٰى(6) فَسَنُیَسِّرُهٗ لِلْیُسْرٰى(7) وَ اَمَّا مَنْۢ بَخِلَ وَ اسْتَغْنٰى(8) وَ كَذَّبَ بِالْحُسْنٰى(9) فَسَنُیَسِّرُهٗ لِلْعُسْرٰى(10) وَ مَا یُغْنِیْ عَنْهُ مَالُهٗۤ اِذَا تَرَدّٰى(11) اِنَّ عَلَیْنَا لَلْهُدٰى(12) وَ اِنَّ لَنَا لَلْاٰخِرَةَ وَ الْاُوْلٰى(13) فَاَنْذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًا تَلَظّٰى(14) لَا یَصْلٰىهَاۤ اِلَّا الْاَشْقَى(15) الَّذِیْ كَذَّبَ وَ تَوَلّٰى(16) وَ سَیُجَنَّبُهَا الْاَتْقَى(17) الَّذِیْ یُؤْتِیْ مَالَهٗ یَتَزَكّٰى(18) وَ مَا لِاَحَدٍ عِنْدَهٗ مِنْ نِّعْمَةٍ تُجْزٰۤى(19) اِلَّا ابْتِغَآءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ الْاَعْلٰى(20) وَ لَسَوْفَ یَرْضٰى(21)

Surah Al Lail English translation

By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, (1) and by the day as it appears radiantly, (2) and by the creation of the male and the female. (3) O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! (4) As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], (5) and believes in the truth of what is right, (6) We will pave his way to ease. (7) But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, (8) and rejects what is right, (9) We shall pave his way to hardship, (10) nor will his wealth profit him when he falls [into the pit]. (11) Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance — (12) and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world — (13) I have warned you then about a raging Fire: (14)
